Before I embarass myself and ask "Is that even a word?", I will say with great conviction that it is. The reason I am so sure of this is that I consulted the good people at dictionary.com, and they assured me that, yes, it is indeed a word that one can employ daily without people pointing and saying things like "Hark at the prat, his English is crap." Naturally, some of you will be pointing at the screen right now and saying the very same thing because I dared even ask. The reason that I asked is that when I first typed it in it seemed to possess the quality of something from the island of Dr. Moreau. By that mean that, on the screen, it looked like some sort of hybrid word - the "ness" suffix looked like some kind of hideously unnatural genetic experiment.
Anyway now that we've established the right to existence of that innocent word let's put it all behind us and get to the subject of this post - the ability to stand out. I've been reading a few of the blogs on the Adelaide Index , of which I'm sure most of you will be aware ("Hark at him - he thinks he has a readership."), and have noticed that many of them are actually frightfully interesting to read. I say "frightfully" because I find it astounding that everyday thoughts of everyday people can be interesting, sometimes even compelling. I have decided that I want to be compelling and readable, I want to have interesting ideas and observations that make people examine their own lives.
Now...isn't that all very compelling and interesting?
